In light of current events

I’m a person of ideals, and I have a hard time forgiving people who overlooked all of the hatred, bias and vitriol, and voted for the president elect simply because they didn’t like the other candidate.  I didn’t like her either, but she got my vote because she was the most qualified to do the job. The fact that people were able to overlook overt racism and religious persecution is a hard one to get past, so every day I take at least one small action to correct what I feel is a terrible mistake. We only need 37 patriots to correct this terrible mistake.  You can contact Electors through this handy site, and ask them to vote their conscience to save out country from tyranny.

We are stunned that a clueless, volatile, inexperienced internet troll who has zero diplomatic skill and consistently goes against protocol will be their commander. Donald Trump is unfit to lead our military.

That said, I do my best to send unconditional love to him and all of the deplorables he surrounds himself with. But that does not mean I condone all of that hatred and racism; it is in spite of all of that. I will do everything within my power to resist it, especially within our government.

And as far as the people in my life who overlooked hatred to vote for some pie-in-the-sky “change”: Forgive them for they know not what they do. They believed false news; they let their personal prejudice overturn reason. I forgive these misguided people, but my opinion of them has changed forever. I will never trust them or respect their judgment.  That said, here are a couple of appropriate quotes.

“Forgiveness is unlocking the door to set someone free and realizing you were the prisoner.” (Max Lucado)

“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.” (The Buddha)
