Art Schedule

These past few weeks we’ve looked at masterworks of artists Matisse, Van Gogh, DaVinci, Picasso, Monet, Cezanne, Vermeer, and more, and we will continue to learn from them as we start focussing on faces, moving toward portraits of others, and our annual self portrait challenge.

This is the underpainting for my Mona. I have learned so much about these paintings – yes there is more than one Mona, and the one in the Louvre is actually three paintings with a thousand layers of paint. The coolest thing I learned is that Leonardo used this painting for teaching over a number of years, and the title Mona Lisa only happened after his death. Originally, the painting was called La Gioconda, as her name was Lisa del Giocondo, but even cooler is that Gioconda means delight or light-hearted, and the absolute lightest value on the painting is over her heart.  I’ll name my Mona self portrait Light-Hearted.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS for the ANNUAL STUDENT SHOW AND AUCTION May 10 through 17, 2019 at Bramhall’s Country Store.
This is a great opportunity for any artist who has had lessons, even f only a few, with me over the past year to experience an exhibition and use their art for a higher good.  I’ll be making reminders and updates as the date draws closer, so watch this space.

Enjoy these awesome artworks, and scroll down for the schedule.

THIS WEEK  Romantic FREE DRAW! ❤️ I’ll have some fun heart references and students are welcome to bring their own reference to make a valentine painting for someone. Any unfinished work can be completed too.

VACATION WEEK – So far I have 2 signed up for Thursday acrylic painting. Need 2 more to make it happen.
Since there’s been so little interest, I’ve cancelled Wednesday (unless 4 suddenly want to sign up), and just am offering Thursday acrylic painting for $35. Discount $5 for additional sib. Let me know if you want in ASAP.
