We learned a lot last week about having successful Zoom classes. After being shut down at 40 minutes on Thursday, I got a paid account so classes can go a decent amount of time, and are now scheduled for 3:30 to 5:00 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. You will need to provide the password displayed below next to the link. Students are welcome to join as many of these free classes they like. Just visit here, and click the links below to join each class. And if you’re new, please email heidi(at)heidimayo.com so I can put you on my email list.

When taking pictures of the work to share, make sure to hold the camera parallel with the piece, and square it up in the frame. Email submission saves me a few steps. I am not the best organized person, and I get piles of texts and emails every day, so always include the word ZOOM and the artist’s name in the email so I can find it.

Enjoy this Zoom Class gallery, and scroll down for the links and reference photos for this week’s classes.

Any other images will be added to the blog gallery next week. If I missed somebody’s work, just re-send.

MATERIALS LIST

  • Sketch book and pencil for value study
  • Canson Mi Tientes paper or some other textured tinted drawing paper. If all you’ve got is white, that’s okay too.
  • Backing board and masking tape – you can use a piece of cardboard or foam core to tape the paper to.
  • Soft pastels with hopefully some dark darks.  Dick Blick has a cheap student set here: https://www.dickblick.com/items/20016-0489/  And if you’re willing to spend a little more, Jack Richeson pastels are a good value. The darker and more saturated you can find, the more expensive they are. https://www.dickblick.com/items/20016-0489/
  • Gum eraser
  • Vine charcoal

Don’t worry if you don’t have all of the materials.
