Seeing the Forest & the Trees
Last week we did trees. Each week when I am planning what lesson to teach, I often think about an artist who exemplifies both mastery and a unique approach to the subject. When I think of trees, I think of Albert Hendel with whom I did a workshop in 2009.
Looking at trees in different ways, like Albert, taught the kids a lot about looking at everything in different ways. When we really look at something, the preconceived notions and mind-made symbols about it fall away, opening up space to make good, honest art.
Enjoy these gorgeous tree paintings, and scroll down for the Weekly Schedules.
