Variations on a Theme

I found this great tricycle at an antique store down the street, and saw it as a perfect educational opportunity. Drawing and painting this trike offers a myriad of lessons in foreshortening, perspective, proportion, values, shapes & angles, and so much more!  You’ll be seeing a lot of this trike over the next few weeks, as we’ll do pen and ink/watercolor and acrylic paintings of it too. The great masters often repeated the same theme or subject over and over, learning more and more each time. That’s what we’re doing with the trike.

October is right around the corner. I am thinking we will do a new and different mask making project using (hopefully fast-drying) paper mache. If anyone has any newspaper to donate to the cause, please recycle it with me. Enjoy these awesome trikes, and scroll down for the schedule.

I made this painting as a gift for Doug Gray who lets me keep my rowing shell at his kayak place on the Billington Sea.

PANDEMIC POLICY – We are extra vigilant especially with the unvaccinated kids, and the fact that everyone is coming from school. We will be mindful and considerate, keep space between us, sanitize, and do our best to stay healthy.  We’ll keep the masks on when inside. I’m depending on parents to stay on top of things as far as exposure goes. Max class size is 6.
