For the next few weeks we’ll be working on the self portraits. We do it every year, and it’s very important for every student to make one. Every piece can’t possibly be a masterpiece, but the great value is in the learning. No matter how they turn out, the students learn extraordinary things about making art.
The kids who have finished theirs get FREE DRAW (making paintings of whatever their hearts desire) until everyone else has accomplished theirs. So make sure they are thinking about what they want to do after they finish their selfies. Here are a few portraits-in-the-making. It’s neat to see how we build a face with values.
