The Zoom classes are going very well. Class size is unlimited, and new students are welcome to join these free classes.  This week we’ll be doing sea creatures since we will be benefiting OPAK – Ocean Protection Advocacy Kids when we have our auction. If anyone wants to make an auction piece, make sure to make it 8.5×11 so it’ll fit in a dollar store frame. I haven’t figured out how we might do the auction, and await notice from Bramhall’s if we can plan a new opening for when the quarantine is lifted.  Enjoy these artworks from last week. We had a lot more students but I can only post the works if they are sent to me. So, send me your artwork! Scroll down for the ZOOM CLASS SCHEDULE.

MATERIALS LIST – Don’t worry if you don’t have all of the materials. Some kids are using oil pastels and colored pencil with satisfying results.

  • Sketchbook and pencil for value study
  • Canson Mi Tientes paper or some other textured tinted drawing paper. If all you’ve got is white, that’s okay too.
  • Backing board and masking tape – you can use a piece of cardboard or foam core to tape the paper to.
  • Soft pastels with hopefully some dark darks.  Dick Blick has a cheap student set here: https://www.dickblick.com/items/20016-0489/  And if you’re willing to spend a little more, Jack Richeson pastels are a good value. The darker and more saturated you can find, the more expensive they are. https://www.dickblick.com/items/20016-0489/
  • Gum eraser
  • Vine charcoal
