I\u2019ll still post the weekly works on the Facebook page, but I\u2019m paying less attention to Facebook these days, and parents who don\u2019t use facebook will enjoy seeing their kids\u2019 work online. \u00a0The kids have been working very hard on their self portraits. \u00a0This week, we\u2019ll finish them up. Next week, it\u2019s free for all, as a reward for a month of portraiture. \u00a0If your kid has something special they want to paint, PLEASE BRING the picture or object, as we can\u2019t spend class time sifting through the internet and printing pix.<\/p>\n

8th ANNUAL STUDENT SHOW, OPENING Friday, MAY 13, 5-7:00 at Bramhall\u2019s Country Store, 2 Sandwich St, Plymouth.<\/strong> I have lots of new students this year who have never participated. \u00a0Here\u2019s all the info:Any student who has had a class with me over the past year or two is welcome to exhibit a couple of their new paintings. \u00a0Over the next few weeks, kids are encouraged to look at their works and pick their best pieces to show. If parents agree, kids can put a price on their paintings, and Bramhall\u2019s gets 10% if they sell. This is a great introduction to being an art professional.The pieces will need to be framed to hang. \u00a0We do 8.5x11work most of the time so Dollar Store document frames work great for this purpose.AUCTION: We will also be making paintings of whales and dolphins to donate to our silent auction. I provide the framing. This year our work will benefit Whale & Dolphin Conservation, Inc, whose office is at 7 Nelson Street. \u00a0http:\/\/us.whales.org<\/a>\u00a0 The proceeds will go towards \u201cadopting\u201d some whales and orcas. How cool is that? \u00a0This is a great way for kids to learn how sharing their artwork can benefit the rest of the world.<\/p>\n

DEADLINES<\/b><\/p>\n

April 15<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Commit to participate with titles of 2 works you will be displaying. (I make postcards, labels, and brochures for the show, which is why I need this info ON TIME)<\/p>\n

May 9<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Artworks must be delivered to me so I can haul them over to Bramhall\u2019s and start hanging the show.This is the coolest opportunity for young artists, as there\u2019s nothing like seeing your work hung in a public place, and it really gives the kids a taste of what it\u2019s like to be a \u201creal artist\u201d participating in an exhibit.<\/p>\n
