<\/p>\nLast week we rounded out the introduction to figure drawing, and I posed for the kids. Drawing figures is a skill that gets better and better with practice noticing things like proportions, negative space, and relationships.
\nThis week is the Great Halloween Candy Challenge, an annual favorite where the kids draw their favorite Halloween treats while learning lots about drawing masses of stuff, such as candy corn and and piles of candy; how to get the essence of things without being too literal.
\nHalloween week it’ll be scary stuff like bats and witches and haunted houses, Harry Potter, too. If kids have a scary reference item or picture they’d like to paint, they are welcome to bring it next week. Think of it as a scary free draw.<\/p>\n

\nJim is making the front steps, but students will always come down the driveway, and enter through the back door, leaving shoes in the pantry (until we get the side entrance done). Kids are welcome to leave a pair of slippers or\u00a0indoor footwear on the rack to have here. I might re-think if snow gets to be a big issue, but for now, back door is the entrance.<\/p>\n
