Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that I’d be teaching fine art for twenty years now. \u00a0One of my first jobs back in 1968 when I was a sixteen-year-old oil painter\u00a0was assisting Gay Youse in her kids classes at the Duxbury Art Association. But I never thought it was what I’d end up doing. \u00a0Some things are just meant to be.
\nAfter owning my own custom clothing business, working in the restaurant\u00a0world, and then the wild west of Internet application\u00a0development, docs and training, I got back into fine art around 1998 when I\u00a0started\u00a0making illustrations for\u00a0Nelson Telson – The Story of a True Blue Blood<\/a>. \u00a0<\/em>Suddenly I had this need to make art just for the sake of it. \u00a0I was about\u00a0to pick the oil paints back up when\u00a0my husband suggested pastels.
\nMy pastel journey began\u00a0right about the same time Maggie Price<\/a> started the Pastel Journal<\/em>, a fortunate coincidence! I was lucky to get to know her and many other renowned pastel painters along the way. \u00a0And there’s a wonderful\u00a0community of supportive pastel painters right here on the south shore and cape.
\nI went crazy making art with pastels. Within a year I was teaching pastel painting to grownups privately and for the Plymouth Guild. A few years later, a friend asked if I’d teach her son, and from there my gig grew and evolved from the dining room table into the Top of the World. How lucky am I?<\/p>\n

I am so thrilled and humbled to have\u00a0the privilege of teaching your kids. It is an honor to be a part of their development as artists and citizens. Jack has been with me since kindergarten. Now into his ninth year\u00a0of\u00a0after school classes, he has rarely missed a day.
\nOne of the most gratifying things that happens is when kids outgrow the classes, and go off into the bigger world. But they know they can always come back and paint with me.<\/p>\n
