14th Annual Student Exhibit – IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ!
Here are all of the details about the upcoming show and auction:
All of my current students are welcome to exhibit in this wonderful event. And all are welcome to join us for the opening, and visit the exhibit while it’s up May 19 through June 16 at the Harborwalk Apartments lobby at the Cordage, 30 Loring Blvd, Plymouth.
The annual show is a great way for young artists to get a taste of what it’s like to be a professional, and to see their work hanging in a public place. Kids are welcome to sell their work if they’d like. Deals are done directly between artist and buyer.
1 – I need to know who is participating. Many kids assume they are, but I need confirmation from the parents. I encourage all of the students to participate. We work mostly in 8.5×11 so paintings can be popped right into dollar store document frames.
I am working on a postcard that has works of the artists on it. Once printed, artists will get a bunch to distribute to friends and family. This is last year’s postcard.

THE EXHIBIT
Kids need to choose the 1 or 2 paintings they’d like to display. These will need to be framed for hanging by you. Newbies still have time to make a few more to choose from. Once they’ve chosen the works, have the kids give their paintings short fun titles. All you need to do is to let me know the title and price or NFS of the pieces that will be shown, frame it for hanging (dollar store document frames are perfect), and deliver it to the studio entrance by May 15th. I’ll take care of the rest. If you’re having trouble deciding, you can see all of the works in this blog‘s weekly posts. If they want to put a price on the work, I recommend around $30. The exhibit, at Harborwalk Apartments lobby, 30 Loring Blvd at the Cordage opens with our big party on Friday, May 19, 5-7:00, and runs through June 16 when I’ll dismantle the show and put the artworks in the mudroom for you to pick up.
I redesigned the logo, and am having G&G Silkscreen print t-shirts. Each exhibitor gets a tee to wear to the Opening!

THE AUCTION
Kids and parents agree to donate a painting made specially in class. We will start making them soon so everyone gets a chance to make one. I frame them, and we have a silent auction during the party on May 19. Last year we raised $3000 for World Central Kitchen! and we’re going to be benefitting them again this year because the need is so great. We’ll be making paintings of flowers that symbolize peace and other peaceful scenes. Donating to the auction is completely optional, and if a kid doesn’t want to donate, it’s perfectly okay.
THE OPENING
Everyone is welcome! We have a big opening party and auction at the Harborwalk lobby on May 19, 5-7:00. Jim and I get a bunch of pizzas delivered, parents and families bring finger foods and kid drinks; we provide wine and beer, and we have a blast! Parents, please let me know what you plan to bring.
