Harvesting Art

November offers lots of wonderful art opportunities, fall landscapes, nature’s bounty, cranberries, turkeys, fall foliage, and more. We’ll be making seasonal art right up through Christmas. Early December we’ll be making holiday card designs. I print the cards, and each kid gets 4 to give to teachers and friends.

NO SHOWS – I hate to have to write this. Over the past few weeks I’ve had several no shows. That’s when a student on the list just doesn’t show up. We wait for them, and then I contact the parent to find out they’re simply not coming. These classes are small, and I need notice if someone’s not coming. Please know that if your kid is having a bad day, their spirits will be lifted and everybody’s day will be much better by honoring commitments and creating art.
I always encourage new families to read the Important Info for Students section at this blog which includes:
Attendance Policy: I create my weekly schedule based on demand. If your kid’s name is on the list, attendance is assumed, unless I am notified 24 hours in advance. I plan the classes and materials for the students who are on the list. If there’s a no-show, we wait for the student. Last minute cancellations or no shows: I expect payment for that class. Of course if a kid is sent home sick and I am notified, that’s an exception.
I have let a few slide lately, and now it’s become a problem. At this point I am owed for three no shows (and that’s a lot of art supplies!). If this continues, I may have to change my policy to payment in advance (which many families already do). Thanks for understanding. Long standing, responsible trusted families can ignore this.
