Last week students made seasonal artworks for cards. This week is upside-down Santa based on the works of Mike Beeman, my favorite Santa (and bird) painter. Making upside-down paintings is a wonderful exercise where we look at colors, values, and shapes without making assumptions, and create a painting based solely on what we see. It’s a good practice for any artist.
