The humble pumpkin is the perfect subject for color studies. Each student had 4 colors, red, green, yellow, and blue as support for their paintings. Before they started they had to mass produce their image vine charcoal sketch, then they had to pick 8 or 9 colors only for a limited palette. This way they got direct experience of how colors interact with each other, and how the “support” supports the work.
