We’re working on our self portraits. Students learn so much in this process where we look at features as shadows and highlights, not eyes, noses and mouths. Our brain has a lot of preconceived ideas about what things look like, and it tries to override the reality in front of us. We learn to really look at things, let our eyes inform us, and strive to get a good likeness.
ANNUAL SHOW UPDATE: Almost all of the 23 students on the list have confirmed participation. I’m waiting for response for these kids: Dylan and Griffyn, Giselle, and Lincoln. I hope to hear from you soon.
We’ll be making paintings of sunflowers, the national flower of Ukraine, for our auction. Everyone loves sunflowers, and hopefully we’ll raise lots of dough for World Central Kitchen’s efforts to feed Ukrainian refugees.
IMPORTANT DATES & DEADLINES
April 1 – Exhibitor list is complete so I can make the postcards, tags and program.
April 30 – Need titles for the artworks (and prices or NFS) for the tags and program. I encourage the kids to invent short (20 characters or fewer) interesting titles for their works, and price them if they want to sell.
Any parent who wants to bring foods and/or drinks, let me know. Jim and I will order 10 pizzas, and have the plates and napkins. I’ll get a couple big bottles of wine and some beer.
