We’re working on faces, expressions and self portraits, and once those are done we’ll be preparing for the show and auction. Self portraits are like the practicum of our school year curriculum, a way for the artists to demonstrate all of the knowledge they’ve learned over the year. It’s a difficult challenge for young artists, but also very rewarding.

HEADS UP! I’ll be creating a timeline leading up to the annual show and auction on May 17 soon.
First, I need to get confirmation from parents that your kid(s) will be participating, so pop me an email to confirm. I make a postcard that includes an artwork of each student, and need to get on that soon.
The annual show and auction is a great way for kids to get a taste of what it’s like to be an exhibiting artist. The auction allows kids to use their artwork for a higher purpose. We make the auction pieces in class; I frame them, and we auction them off during the BIG OPENING PARTY on May 17 at the Harborwalk Apartments lobby. This year we’ll be benefiting World Central Kitchen again because their work is so critical to war torn areas. Kids need to pick 2 pieces done within the past year to exhibit. Those pieces need to be framed and ready to hang. Dollar store 8.5×11 document frames work great on the pastel paintings. Stay tuned, and please make sure to read all of the emails going forward.
