Weekly Update

I am excited to start planning for our annual Student Exhibit and Auction at Brabo Benefits on May 27, 5-7:00. This will be our 13th annual show (we lost 2 years due to covid). Any artist who has taken classes with me any time over the past 2 years is welcome to exhibit. We also have our auction that will benefit World Central Kitchen, and kids are encouraged to donate a painting we paint especially for that. I frame them up. We usually raise around $500; one year we raised over a thousand. The show is a great way for the students to take part in a real exhibit and opening reception of food and fun, sell their work if they want, and use their art for the greater good.
I’m encouraging the students to look back on their work and pick a painting or two that they are most proud of. I can make suggestions. They will have to be framed so they can hang in the show. The reason we work in 8.5×11 is so that the paintings can be popped right into dollar store document frames.
I was looking for display panels for hanging, and am happy to report that the estate of Cecilia Murray, a friend and fellow artist who sadly passed last year, is giving me her panels!
As we get closer to the show, I’ll need parents to make sure to read the weekly emails, so you’ll be aware of party planning and deadlines and such.
