I found when I was first starting out, it was very helpful to join a couple of online communities where people in the same boat were navigating the same uncharted waters. I have only joined two, but I will list more that have been recommended.
This Naked Mind Community is a wonderful bunch of intelligent, sensible people all intent on helping each other change their relationship with ethanol in a world where drinking poison is heavily marketed as the “elixir of life.” There’s also a private This Naked Mind Facebook page.
Hello Sunday Morning, originally started to change the Australian drinking culture, has grown into the largest online movement for alcohol behaviour change in the world. Their vision is a world where drinking is an individual choice, not a cultural expectation. I like HSM because it keeps track of time so I don’t.
I’ve heard good things about Soberistas (but I think it costs money to join after a certain number of visits), though there are some good articles at their Word Press blog.
Another great community is Lee Davy’s The Strive Community Forum, a nice intimate community of like-minded people and excellent support.
